“Enjoy a journey I can travel as soon I want”

2016 Summer Camp to USA travel note

We always left fewer time for ourselves

    Sometime we were confused

    The big city

We are just the busy but aimless bees

The life in Grade 10 was busy. I felt a little bit stressful on the school work. I went to Beijing by train after the holiday coming. My tour of the United States would begin. I preferred to travel with my family before because I considered the trip would be full of love and romantic. But this time I experienced the culture and life of different country alone. Honestly, There were some different flavors.

It took more than 10 hours to get there by plane. And we spent about two days arriving at our first stop---Miami University. It was located in Ohio, a very tranquil and peaceful place. Each courtyard or villa has its own characteristics. They looked very sweet. Miami University was like an amiable old man retiring into the countryside. Stocky buildings, old tress, mottled paths. It seemed like they were telling about their own story. We stayed in Miami University for four days. We listened to three real university lectures the last and half day. This was a very unobtainable opportunity to go into a university class to experience the atmosphere personally. We gained a lot of knowledge.

After four days, we got to a very famous financial city of America---Chicago. It is also the third largest city in America. We could feel the modern breath of this totally different city when we just arrived. Skyscrapers reached high into the sky. Chicago was located on the east of the Michigan Lake. The Chicago River flew through the center of Chicago. We always could see various office workers walking over the bridge. We can also see the residents running or walking the dog in the morning. This was a both prosperous and relaxing city. Actually, I like this kind of shock. At last we went to the art museum. All paintings I looked at reflected the inner world of the different artists. Sometimes was quiet, sometimes was anxious, sometimes was plain, and sometimes was mysterious. Each color, each line has their special meaning of existence.

After several days, we came to Boston. Boston was an old city. Many famous universities were located here, such as Harvard, Yale, MIT and Boston University. Apparently, we came here for visiting these universities. I had my own preconception before I met them. The buildings would be grand and have many high-grade facilities .But when you set foot in the campus, you only could feel the classic literature breath. Old buildings, patches of grass, radiant sunshine, twisty roads and naught squirrels. We could see the students studying and reading everywhere. Some students sat on the stairs with a book. Others sat cross-legged on the cement platform and typed quickly. Studying has become a necessary part of their life. No matter how many tourists, they would never be disturbance to the conscientious students. By comparing, I prefer Yale University. I like the romantic church and the architectural style of the whole campus.

Last several days were the most exciting. We came to the biggest city in America---New York. She was like a fascinating fashion girl. She showed her beauty to the tourists without any reservation. First we went to the 1 World Trade Center and overlooked the scenery of whole New York City. Each building was like a footprint. They proved the brilliant development and achievement of the city. After that, we went to The Fifth Avenue in Manhattan. This place was the symbol of luxury. The spotlessly-clean glass showed their cachet. The models stared at the various strangers with indifferent eyes in the showcases. Next day we visited the entire city by ship. The breeze brought coolness to us. We listened to the lively country music enjoy the beautiful scenery. That was my favorite part of this tour. We also saw the Statue of Liberty during this time .Even though we just saw the statue in the distance. We still could feel her holiness and the people’s eager hope to the freedom.

About two weeks, we visited four, maybe five cities. I saw many unique facets of America. When the modern and classical collided, people still will not forget the most precious things that the history left for us under the high-speed economic development. People chose to pursue the inner purity and freedom. Even though the growth of this country is excessive, the Americans are willing to slow down their step and enjoy what they have now. I think this is the most important part we should learn from this country.
